Emily Szembrot was born on July 23, 1998. She trained at GTC of Rochester through the 2008 season. She then moved to Zenith Academy of Gymnastics for two seasons. She began training at Rochester Gymnastics Academy in the summer of 2010. She will graduate from high school in 2016.
In 2007, Emily competed level five. She placed third on floor at the Spring Fever meet. She competed level six in 2008. She finished third all-around at the I Love NY Cup. She finished third on vault at the Rochester Classic. Emily competed level nine in 2009. She finished first on floor at the Graffiti Invitational. She competed at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second all-around. Emily moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished third on beam at the Winter Graffiti Invitational. She won bars and beam at the I Love NY Cup. She finished fourth on floor at Regionals.
Emily continued competing level nine in 2011. She finished first on vault, beam and the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She finished first on bars and beam at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the Rochester Classic. She placed first on bars and the all-around at the Niagara Cup. She won bars and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won bars, floor and the all-around. She placed fourth on beam at Easterns. She finished eighth all-around.
