Eri Tamada was born on September 26, 1996. She trained at South Bay through the 2005 season. She then moved to Studio West Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2005, Eri competed level five. She won the all-around title at the Butterfly Classic. She finished in the top twenty all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in 2006. She finished first on beam, floor and the all-around at the Hang Ten Invitational. She won bars and beam at the 2nd Prelim. She placed in the top twenty all-around at the State Championships. Eri immediately began competing level seven in 2007. She finished first on beam at the Character Counts! Classic. She finished in the top twenty at the State Championships.

Eri moved up to level eight in 2008. She finished in the top ten all-around at the Flips USA Invitational and IGHOF Invitational. At the Surf City Classic, she won bars. Eri finished third all-around at the Last Chance meet. She placed in the top fifteen all-around at the State Championships. She finished eleventh all-around at Regionals. Eri began competing level nine in 2009. She finished fifth all-around at the Long Beach Open. She placed in the top twenty all-around at the State Championships. She finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals.

Eri continued competing level nine in 2010. She finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals. In 2011, Eri won the all-around title at the San Diego Classic. She placed second all-around at the California Classic. She finished eleventh all-around at the State Championships. Eri placed in the top fifteen at Regionals. She competed at Westerns.
