Taylor Buis was born on January 14, 1998. She trains at USA Champion in Michigan. Taylor will graduate from high school in 2016. Her older sister, Jessica, is also a gymnast.

In 2005, Taylor competed level five. She placed second on vault at the State Championships. She competed level six in 2007. She finished third all-around at the Tulip City Invitational. She moved up to level seven in 2008. She finished in the top ten at the US Airborne Invitational. In 2009, Taylor began competing level eight. She finished first all-around at the US Airborne Invitational. She placed third on bars at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. Taylor continued competing level eight in 2010. She finished third on bars and beam at the Twistars Invitational. She finished first on bars at the Tulip City Invitational. As a level nine, Taylor placed first on bars and third all-around at the Spartan Showcase. She returned to level eight, winning bars at the Arnold Gymnastics Challenge. She won vault at the State Championships. She placed third all-around. At Regionals, she finished third on vault and eighth all-around.

Taylor competed level nine in 2011. She finished first on bars at the Twistars Invitational. She placed third all-around at the Cereal City Classic. At the St. Louis Classic, she won beam and placed third all-around. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals.
