Kelsey Thomas was born on August 31, 1994. She trained at Oakland Gymnastics until the spring of 2008. She then moved to Michigan Elite Gymnastics Academy (MEGA). She began training at Euro Stars in the fall of 2010. Kelsey will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2006, Kelsey competed level six. She finished eighth all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level seven in 2007. She finished third all-around at the Motown Madness meet. At the State Championships, she finished second all-around. Kelsey competed level eight in 2008. She placed second all-around at the US Airborne Invitational. In 2009, she competed level nine. She finished third all-around at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. Kelsey finished third all-around and second on bars at Regionals. At Easterns, she placed third all-around and third on bars.

Kelsey continued competing level nine in 2010. She won the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She won bars at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She won the all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Arena Classic, she won beam. Kelsey placed third on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won a bronze medal on beam. She ended her season at Easterns.
