Sara Tiano was born on December 2, 1994. She trained at Massachusetts Gymnastics Center before she moved to Virginia Beach. Sara has trained at Excalibur since 2004. Her sister, Michaela, also participated in competitive gymnastics.
In 2003, Sara competed level five. She competed level seven in 2005. She finished first on vault and third all-around at the Hurricane Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she also finished third all-around. Sara placed second all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2006. She finished third on bars at State. She moved up to level nine in 2007. Sara placed third on vault at the Brestyan Invitational and Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed third on floor. She finished third on bars at Regionals. Her final meet of the season was Easterns.
She competed level ten in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Rock N Roll Classic. At Regionals, she finished fourth on vault. Sara continued competing level ten in 2010. She finished third on vault at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the State Championships, she finished third all-around. Sara won vault at Regionals, qualifying for the JO National Invitational Tournament where she placed fourth on vault.
