Taryn Sherman was born on December 14, 1997. She trained at M&M Gymnastics through the 2009 season. She then moved to Midwest Twisters. She will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2005, Taryn competed level four. She won the all-around title at the State Championships. She competed level five in 2006. She finished third on vault at the Salto Invitational. She placed third all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in 2007. In 2009, Taryn competed level seven. She finished second all-around at the Midwest Challenge. She won beam at the State Championships.

Taryn continued competing level seven in 2010. She won bars at the Salto Invitational. At the Harley Davidson meet, she won beam, floor and the all-around. In 2011, Taryn competed level eight. She finished second on vault at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Harley Davidson meet. At the Scamps Invitational, she won bars and beam. She finished first on beam at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished third all-around.
