Alya Turcotte was born on October 10, 1995 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. She trained at Futures Gymnastics. She moved to the United States in 2005 and began training at Wallers' GymJam Academy. She will graduate from high school in 2013.
In 2006, Alya competed level six. She finished first on beam at the 1st Prelim meet. She finished second on beam at the 3rd Prelim. She finished in the top fifteen at the State Championships. In 2007, she finished second on bars and sixth all-around at the State Championships. She immediately began competing level seven in 2008. She won beam at the Team OC Invitational. She finished second all-around at the IGI Chicago Style and California Classic. She won bars and floor at the American Kids Cup. At the State Championships, she finished tenth all-around. In 2009, Alya finished second all-around at the WOGA Classic. She placed third all-around at the Heart of a Champion Invitational. She won bars and the all-around at the State Championships.
Alya competed level eight in 2010. She finished first on beam at the Metroplex Challenge. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Classic Rock Invitational. She finished first on vault, floor and the all-around at the Heart of a Champion meet. At the Return of the Titans, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. Alya won bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won bars and the all-around. Alya competed level nine in 2011. She finished first all-around at the Team OC Classic. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Heart of a Champion meet, she won vault, bars, beam and the all-around. Alya won floor at the Byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she won bars, floor and the all-around. She finished third all-around at Regionals. Alya finished fifth on vault at Westerns.
