Samantha VanderPutten was born on November 6, 1992. She trained at Cascade Elite through the spring of 2005. She then moved to Gymnastics East. She will graduate from high school in 2011.
In 2005, Samantha competed level five. She won bars and the all-around at the Surf City Classic. She competed at the State Championships. She competed level six in 2006. In 2007, Samantha competed level seven. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Flips USA Invitational. She placed in the top twenty at the State Championships. She competed level eight in 2008. Samantha finished third on vault at the Battle in Seattle. She placed fifth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished fourth on vault and seventh all-around.
Samantha competed level nine in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Gymnastics in Paradise meet. She won the all-around title at the Great West Gym Fest. She finished second on floor at the State and Regional Championships. In 2010, Samantha placed second on floor at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She won vault at Regionals. At Westerns, Samantha placed sixth on vault and the all-around and fourth on floor.
