Erica Varon was born on April 8, 1990. Erica competed for Studio West Gymnastics in 2000. She moved to American Gymanstics for the 2001 season. She trained at All Olympia Gymnastics Center then through the 2004 season. She moved to Josephson Academy of Gymnastics. She graduated from high school in 2008.

In 2000, Erica competed level seven. She placed second on vault at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2001. She placed sixth all-around at the State Championships. In 2003, Erica competed level nine. She finished sixth all-around at Regionals. She finished 17th all-around at Westerns. Erica moved up to level ten in 2004. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. In 2005, she won all five gold medals at the LA Classic. Erica placed second all-around at both the Surf City Classic and California Classic. At the State Championships, she placed fourth on beam and floor. Erica placed fourth on beam at Regionals. In 2006, she won all five gold medals at the Vegas Vacation meet. Erica won bars and the all-around at the California Classic. At the State Championships, she won floor and the all-around. She finished ninth all-around at Regionals.

Erica continued competing level ten in 2007. She won vault at the Character Counts! Classic. She finished third all-around at the California Classic. She also finished third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, Erica finished sixth all-around. In 2008, she finished third all-around at the Surf City Classic. She won beam and the all-around at the Heart of a Champion Invitational. At the State Championships, she won floor. She competed at Regionals.

As a freshman at Cal, Erica competed in the all-around in all but three meets. In 2010, she competed in all ten meets. She competed on beam in all but meet. Erica competed on bars and vault four times. She had five floor routines.
