Vanessa Davis was born on June 3, 1997. She trains at Desert Lights Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2015.

Vanessa began competing level five in the fall of 2005. She finished second on bars at the PGA Invitational. She won bars and placed second all-around at the Halloween Invite. Vanessa ended her season at the State Championships with a bronze medal on bars. She continued competing level five in the spring of 2006. She won bars and placed third all-around at the Winter Sun Invitational. Vanessa placed in the top three on every event and in the all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the Flagstaff Winter Classic, she finished first on bars and second all-around.

She moved up to level six in the fall. She placed in the top ten at the School Days Invitational. At State, she placed in the top ten. She continued competing level six in the spring of 2007. She placed in the top five at the Winter Sun Invitational and Fiesta Bowl Invitational, winning bars at the latter. She finished third all-around at both the Shamrock Invitational and Tucson Invitational. At the spring State meet, she finished second on beam. Vanessa continued level six in the fall. She finished second all-around at the Rock-n-Roll Classic and Halloween meet. At States, Vanessa won beam and the all-around. She finished second on bars and third on vault and floor. She also qualified to National TOPs Testing as a ten year old.

In 2008, she immediately began competing level seven. She finished in the top ten at the Winter Sun Invitational, Fiesta Bowl Invitational, Hardrock Invitational and Golden State Classic. Vanessa ended her season by winning vault, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She placed second on bars and third on beam. In the fall, she made the National TOPs "B" Team. Vanessa continued to perform well as a level eight in 2009. She had strong finishes at several invitationals in the spring. At the State Championships, Vanessa won bars, beam and the all-around. She ended her season at Regionals, placing in the top ten all-around.

Vanessa recovered from an injury in the off-season to compete level nine in 2010. She finished third on beam and floor at the State Championships. She finished fourth all-around. At Regionals, she placed sixth, qualifying for Westerns. Vanessa did not compete in the all-around at Westerns.
