Emily Vidmar was born on April 28, 1994. She is the daughter of 1984 Olympic Champion Peter Vidmar. Emily trained at Gym Team USA, competing in trampoline and tumbling, until the gym closed in the fall of 2004. She then moved to Gym-Max. Following the 2010 season, Emily began training at Wildfire. Emily also pole vaults for her high school. She will graduate in 2012.
In 2004, Emily competed level nine trampoline, level eight double mini and level seven tumbling. She placed second on trampoline and double mini and first on tumbling at the State Championships. At JO Nationals, she finished tenth on both double mini and trampoline. In the fall of 2005, Emily competed level five in artistic gymnastics. She won vault at the 1st Prelim. At the Judges Cup, she won bars, beam and the all-around. Emily won bars and the all-around at the 2nd Prelim. She won five gold medals at the Butterfly Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault, bars and the all-around. Emily won floor and the all-around at the West Sectional meet. At the State Championships, she won bars, floor and the all-around.
Emily competed level six in the fall of 2006. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the 2nd Prelim. She won five gold medals at the Olympic Dream Classic. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the West Sectional meet. At the State Championships, she won beam and the all-around. Emily immediately began competing level seven in 2007. She won bars at the LA Classic. At the Surf City Classic, she won bars, beam and the all-around. She won bars at the Long Beach Open. At the State Championships, she won bars and placed second all-around.
In 2008, Emily competed level eight. She finished third all-around at the National Judges Cup. She won the all-around at the AOGC Invitational. At the Top Flight Invite, she won floor. She placed second all-around at the State Championships. She finished first on floor and in the all-around at Regionals. She moved up to level nine in 2009. She finished first on bars, floor and the all-around at the Long Beach Open. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the Malibu Coast Challenge. At the State Championships, she won the all-around title. Emily placed third all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she finished 12th all-around.
She began competing level ten in 2010. She finished second all-around at the San Diego Classic. Emily placed in the top fifteen at both State and Regionals. In 2011, Emily finished first on beam and third on floor at the California Classic. She finished second on bars at the State Championships. She finished in the top ten all-around. Emily placed twelfth all-around at Regionals.
