Amanda Wellick was born on September 8, 1994. She competed for Gym Nasti in 2003. In 2003, Amanda was with Midwest Academy. She then switched to Illinois Gymnastics Institute. She trained there until the summer of 2006. Amanda competed for American Gymnastics at the US Challenge. She then moved to Aerial Gymnastics in Illinois. After the 2008 season, Amanda followed her coach, Jiani Wu, to Naperville Gymnastics. In March of 2010, Jiani and her husband opened Legacy Elite Gymnastics.
In 2002, Amanda competed as a level five. She finished sixth all-around at Sectionals. She moved up to level six in 2003. At States, she placed fourth on bars. Amanda competed as a level seven in 2004. She won the all-around state title! She also won bars and finished second on beam. Amanda competed in the Mulitpsort Madness Triathlon for kids. She finished fifth in her age division. In the winter of 2004, she competed as a level eight for one meet. Amanda then moved up to level nine. She finished third all-around at the Level 9 State Championships. For the 2006 season, Amanda competed as a level ten. She qualified to Regionals. After the level ten season, Amanda made hopes pre-elite. She competed at the US Challenge.
Amanda had a great 2007 season. She had a fantastic meet at Regionals. She won every event except for vault! She finished eleventh all-around at the JO National Championships. She finished second on beam. She qualified to junior pre-elite in 2007. In 2008, Amanda continued having successful results. At the Level 10 Regional Championships, she finished third all-around. She won a silver medal on bars. At JO Nationals, she had another top twenty finish. She finished in the top ten on bars.
In 2009, she opened her season by winning a bronze medal on beam at the Twistars Invitational. She finished third on vault and second on beam at the Bravo Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she did not compete on vault. She finished fourth on vault at the Arena Classic. She finished third all-around at States. At Regionals, she finished sixth alll-around. She competed at JO Nationals where she finished tenth on bars. She placed 14th all-around.
Amanda had a great 2010 season. She started the season by winning bars and the all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Bravo Classic with a 38.450. Amanda won vault, bars and the all-around at the Gateway Challenge. She finished third at the IGI Chicago Style. Amanda won the all-around at the Arena Classic. At States, she won bars and the all-around. She finished second all-around at Regionals. Amanda placed fifth on vault, fourth on bars, fifth on floor and sixth all-around at JO Nationals. She was named to the Region 5 All-Star Team. In 2011, Amanda finished first on bars and the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She placed first on bars and floor at the Bravo Classic. She won all five gold medals at the State Championships. Amanda placed first on bars at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished sixth on vault and eighth on floor. She finished 18th all-around.
