Cassandra Whitcomb was born to Cindy and Chris on March 5, 1993. Her mom is a coach at her gym. She has a sister, Amber, and a brother, Nathan. She trains at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy in Ohio under Mary Lee Tracy. She began gymnastics in 1995 at the age of seventeen months. In 2001, she qualified as a Diamond TOP Team Member. She was a National TOP Team Member in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

In 2003, Cassie competed as a level seven. She won the Greater NY Invitational. She moved up to level nine in 2004. Cassie won the Ohio State Championships. She also competed as a TOPS Elite. She finished fourth all-around at the American Challenge. In 2005, Cassie competed as a level nine again. At Easterns, she finished seventh all-around and first on uneven bars. She did some level ten meets in the beginning of 2006.

Cassie qualified to junior international elite in 2006. At the US Classic, she placed sixth on uneven bars. Cassie also qualified to the US National Championships. At Nationals, she finished in the top twelve. This qualified her for the US National Team. She was selected for the PAGU Camp in Houston, Texas. Cassie later went to the Top Gym International in Belgium. She won the all-around title!

In 2007, she finished tenth all-around at the US National Championships. She made her second US National Team. In 2008, she finished third all-around at the US Classic. She placed second on bars. She had similar results at the US National Championships, again finishing third all-around and second on bars. Cassie had a strong season as a first year senior in 2009. She easily won the uneven bars title at the US Classic. At the US National Championships, she made the US National Team. She finished second on uneven bars. Cassie had a busy fall, participating in the World Championships Selection Camp and also committing to UCLA!
