Sara Williams was born on January 28, 1985. She is the daughter of Clay and Joleen. Sara has two siblings, Scott and Angela. She trained at Kips Gymnastics with Dennis Mailly and Suzanne Phillips for most of her club career. She began gymnastics in 1992 because she was very active at home.
In 2000, Sara competed as a level eight. She finished seventh all-around at Regionals. She placed third on bars and beam. At the 2001 Level 9 State Championships, Sara won floor. She placed fourth on bars. In 2002, she finished third all-around at the Level 9 Western Championships! Sara also won a silver on bars and a bronze on beam.
Sara continued gymnastics at Sacramento State University. As a freshman, she competed on bars and beam. In 2005, she competed on bars nine times including three exhibitions. In 2006, she did one exhibition bar routine. As a senior in 2007, Sara competed on vault and bars.
