Amelia Winczura was born on May 23, 1991. She trained at Arctic Gymnastics during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2009. She holds over twenty Alaskan State titles.

In 2004, Amy competed level seven. She won floor at the Sweetheart Invite. She moved up to level eight in 2005. She competed at Regionals. She moved up to level nine in 2006. She finished in the top ten at Regionals. She competed at Regionals. In 2007, she won vault at Regionals. She finished in the top ten. In 2008, Amy finished second on vault at the Seattle Open. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Regional Championships. At Westerns, she finished second on vault, third on floor and third all-around.

Amy competed level ten in 2009. She finished third on vault and floor at the Great West Gym Fest. She placed third all-around at the Gymnastics in Paradise meet. At Regionals, she placed third all-around. She competed at JO Nationals. As a freshman at TWU in 2010, Amy competed on vault in all fifteen meets. She competed on floor six times. Amy earned USAG First Team All-American honors on vault and floor. She was a NACGC/W Scholastic All-American. In 2011, Amy earned first-team All-American honors on beam and the all-around. She was named a USAG Scholar-Athlete. She competed in vault and floor in every meet, beam in the majority of the meets and in the all-around seven times.
