Lindsay Wing was born on January 21, 1982 in Boulder, Colorado to Michael and Pamela. She began gymnastics in 1987. Her sister, Jacque, is a former level nine gymnast. Lindsay also has a brother, Brody. She lived in Houston, Texas and trained at Cypress Gymnastics for many years. She moved to Rockville, Maryland and trained with Kelli Hill and Jen Bundy at the end of her elite career.
Her first elite competition was in 1995 at the US Classic. She placed 19th all-around. Her results qualified her to the US National Championships. At nationals she placed 24th all-around. In 1996 she finished third all-around at the US Classic. At nationals she finished fourth in the all-around. Also in 1996 she went to the Jr. Pan Am Championships. She placed won the all-around, vault and beam titles. She also finished second on bars and with the team.
She started her 1997 season off with the American Cup. She finished sixth all-around in preliminaries. The USA team then competed at the International Team Championships. She helped the team win! Her next meet was the US Classic. She finished first. She then traveled to Denver, Colorado for the US National Championships. She finished fifth all-around and won the floor competition. Lindsay also finished 8th on vault, 5th on bars and 20th on beam. Lindsay took a trip to down under for two meets. She first competed at the Foxsport Challenge. She placed third all-around and helped the team place first. She then traveled to Canberra for the Canberra Cup. She placed 4th all-around and won vault and bars.
Lindsay started her 1998 season with a 8th place all-around finish at the Visa American Cup. She then competed at the International 3-on-3 Championships. She placed 4th with Blaine Wilson and Natalie Lacuesta. At the 1999 US Classic Lindsay competed just on beam. She scored a 9.1.
At the 1999 National Championships she placed 14th all-around. In 2000 Lindsay placed 11th all-around at the American Classic. She then traveled with team USA to Brazil for the Spieth Sogipa. Lindsay placed third all-around and took home a gold for the team competition. Her final elite meet was the 2000 US Championships. She placed 13th all-around and missed the Olympic Trial cut by one place.
In the fall of 2000, Lindsay became a college athlete at Stanford University. Lindsay had an awesome freshman year. She won second place on beam at the NCAA Championships event finals. She earned First Team All-America honors on beam and all-around. At the NCAA Regional Championships she finished in the top 10 on each event including first place on beam and all-around. She was also named to the Pac-10 All Conference Squad for all-around and beam. At a meet against BYU she won every event and the all-around. She also tied for the best beam score in history for Stanford. Lindsay also was named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week after a meet in Minnesota. Lindsay also became Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. She was Stanford's 2001 Most Outstanding Gymnast, 2001 Iron Cardinal Award winner and 2001 Most Consistent Floor Exercise award.
Her sophomore season went as great as her freshman year. She was a Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mentio as well as a member of the NACGC Academic All-America Team. She also earned First Team All-American honors. At NCAA Regionals she won beam and the all-around title once again. She also won beam at Pac-10 Championships.
Lindsey had a phenomenal junior year. She earned First and Second-Team All-America honors on beam and bars. She also qualified to beam individual event finals for the third year in a row. Lindsay also tied for third place on beam and fourth on floor at NCAA Regionals. She also earned All-Conference honors on beam after being crowned the Pac-10 beam champion. She also became the first person from Stanford to score a 10 on the beam. She scored the 10 at Oklahoma. Lindsay also was an NACGC Academic All-American.
Lindsey's final year as a gymnast was in 2004. Her senior year was amazing. She became the only four-time beam champion in Pac-10 Conference history. She also competed at her fourth event finals on beam. She placed sixth. At the Regional Championships Lindsay won bars and beam and finished second in the all-around to teammate Lise Leville.
