Kiana Winston was born on June 12, 1996. She began gymnastics in 2000 at the Southwest Recreational Center. She began competing in 2003 for World of Gymnastics. She trained at Lone Star Gymnastics from the fall of 2004 to the conclusion of the 2007 season. She then moved to Texas Dreams in Coppell, Texas, in 2007.
She began competing in 2003 under both TAAF and USAG. During the fall, she qualified to the Level 4 State Championships where she won a silver medal on vault. As a TAAF level 5 in the spring of 2004, she won floor at the State Championships. Kiana competed as a level five in the fall, qualifying for the State Championships. A few months later she began competing level six. She finished fourth all-around at the Heart of Texas Invitational.
In 2006, Kiana competed level seven. At the Kurt Thomas Invitational, she qualified for finals. She competed level eight for the 2006-2007 season. She won a bronze medal on vault at the 2006 Candy Cane Classic. In 2008, she competed level nine. She won vault and placed second all-around at the North District Qualifier. She won the all-around at the Texas Prime Meet. She finished second on vault and third on bars and floor. At the Parkette Invitational, Kiana won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. She finished second all-around at the Rose City Classic. She placed third on vault and bars. At States, she finished second on vault. She won beam, floor and the all-around. Kiana won the all-around at Regionals. She placed second on beam and third on floor. At Westerns, she finished second all-around!
Kiana moved up to level ten in 2009. She won vault and beam at the Texas Prime meet. She finished second all-around. In June, Kiana qualified to junior international elite at the Parkette Elite Qualifier. She had a great meet at the US Classic, finishing fourth all-around. She also earned first place on balance beam at the US Classic. A few weeks later, Kiana competed at her first US National Championships. She started her 2010 season with the Texas Prime meet, winning the all-around. She qualified to compete in the Legendz Classic. A few weeks later, Kiana qualified for the Visa Championships at the Metroplex Challenge. In late June, Kiana tore her ACL. She returned to competition in 2011. Kiana made the US National Team.
