Cerise Nicole Witherby was born to Lisa and Michael on December 27, 1992. She began gymnastics at the age of seven. She started competing as a level five in 2001 for New Hope Gymnastics Academy. After the 2003 season, she switched to Wildfire Gymnastics. Cerise has one brother as well as several animals.

After her level five season, she moved up to level six. By the spring of 2003, she was competing as a level seven. She competed a second level seven season in 2004. Cerise won the all-around title at the Georgia Dawg Days Classic and California Classic. At the State Championships, she finished first all-around! Cerise also won vault and floor. In 2005, she quickly mobilized from level eight to nine. She had immediate success. At the Great West Gym Fest, she won vault. Cerise also placed second all-around at the Pacific Classic. At States, she had a rough bar routine but won vault. At Regionals, Cerise won vault again! She qualified for the Western National Championships. At Westerns, she finished third on vault.

Cerise repeated level nine in 2006. She started her season by placing second all-around at a meet in Hawaii. This meet was followed up by the Spirals Invite, which she won. Cerise placed second at both the AOGC Invite and Long Beach Open. At States, Cerise won the all-around title. She finished in the top three on every event. Cerise then made Westerns at Regionals. At Westerns, she won vault and finished third on both beam and floor! Cerise also took home the silver in the all-around.

She moved up to level ten in 2007. She placed third on bars at the Hall of Fame meet. At the Jazz Invitational, she won bars and the all-around. She then competed at the Long Beach Open and California Classic, winning a bronze on bars at the latter. At the State Championships, she won bars and placed second on beam. She finished third on bars and floor at Regionals. She placed fifth all-around. She ended her season at JO Nationals. She finished in the top fifteen all-around!

Cerise struggled with injuries in 2008. She competed on bars and beam only throughout the season. She won bars at the Surf City Classic and Top Flight Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, she won her only event, bars. She returned to the all-around in 2009. She won vault and floor at the Cancun Classic. Cerise finished third all-around. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Surf City Classic. At the Long Beach Open, she finished third all-around. Cerise won floor at the State Championships. She placed third all-around. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. Cerise competed at JO Nationals. She finished sixth all-around! In November, Cerise committed to Oregon State University.

In 2010, Cerise placed second all-around at the San Diego Classic. She finished third all-around at the Gliders Invitational. Cerise won floor and the all-around at the Return of the Titans meet. At the Manhattan Classic, she won bars and floor. Cerise won vault, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She placed second on vault and bars. She ended her season with a third place finish at JO Nationals! She also placed fourth on vault and third on beam. In 2011, Cerise finished first on vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. At the Gliders Invitational, she placed first on floor. Cerise won vault at Regionals. She finished second all-around. At JO Nationals, she placed second on vault and first on beam. She finished sixth all-around.
