McKenzie Wofford was born on September 8, 1995. She trained at Capital Gymnastics in Austin, Texas, until 2007. She then switched to Stars Gymnastics in Houston. McKenzie moved to WOGA in February of 2010. She began training at Zenith Elite in 2011.

In 2005, McKenzie qualified to the Texas National Judges Cup Team as a level seven. This is a very prestigious honor. She moved up to level eight for the rest of the season. She finished second on beam at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. In the fall, she made the National TOPs Team. She moved up to level nine for the 2006 season. McKenzie finished second all-around at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. She won beam and floor. At the Texas State Championships, McKenzie placed fourth all-around. She won a silver medal on beam. She finished her level nine season at Regionals with a fourth place finish on floor. She then qualified to hopes pre-elite. She finished sixth overall at the US Challenge! She made the TOPs Team again in the fall.

McKenzie continued the elite path in 2007. She finished second overall at the American Challenge in the hopes division. She qualified to junior international elite in the beginning of July. She finished high enough to qualify for the US National Championships. Unfortunately, she had a scary fall on her double back dismount from beam during training before day one. She was forced to scratch the competition.

She came back strongly in 2008. She finished third on bars at the Parkettes Qualifier. At the Texas Dreams Qualifier, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. She qualified for the US National Championships. At the US Classic, she finished third on bars and second on beam. She placed fifth all-around. She ended her season at the US National Championships. She finished fourth on bars. She placed thirteenth all-around.

McKenzie opened 2009 by sweeping the gold medals at the Judges Cup. At the American Classic, she won bars and the all-around. In July, she finished third at the National Elite Qualifier. McKenzie next placed third all-around at the US Classic. She earned a silver medal on beam and a bronze medal on bars. She ended her season at the US National Championships, finishing fifth on bars and fourteenth all-around. In the fall, she was named to the USA National Team Training Squad!
