As a life long resident of Tampa, Florida, Sarah Wolford began to exhibit her love for flipping at the ripe old age of 3. She quickly moved from recreational gymnastics through the compulsory team levels during elementary school, and by the time she reached Level 7 at age 9, she had found her gymnastics home at Tampa Bay Turners in St. Petersburg.

In 2004, Sarah’s training at TBT earned her the 2nd Place AA title at the Level 7 Florida State Championships. She then moved on to level 8, where she was able to claim the State Championship Title in Vault, Beam, Floor, and the All-Around in 2005. At her level 8 Regional meet that same year, she placed 1st All-Around, 1st on Floor, and 2nd on Beam and Vault. In her first season of level 9, Sarah qualified for both the Regional and Eastern Nationals Championships. By 2007, Sarah repeated her trips to Regionals and Eastern Nationals and earned a spot on the Region 8 Eastern National team and also became a member of the Region 8 “All-Star” Team.

At the age of 14, this talented freshman began her first level 10 season with a bang, and earned two 2nd place AA finishes at her first three USAG Invitational meets. She also earned a spot at Regionals in 2008, but had to withdraw after two events due to a nagging back pain that later turned out to be two stress fractures. After three months of rest, Sarah resumed training and had regained all her skills and added new ones within just 5 weeks.

In her 12th competitive year, Sarah began her 2009 Sophomore L10 season in beautiful Cancun, Mexico at the Cancun Classic. Her next meet was the Battle of Championships where she finished second on uneven bars. At the Daytona Beach Open, she finished second on beam and first on bars. She finished second on bars and third on vault at the GymQuarters Invitational. She finished third all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. Sarah won bars at States. At Regionals, she placed second on bars and twelfth all-around. In the fall, Sarah achieved her gymnastics goal by committing to the University of Iowa.

Sarah continued competing level ten in 2010. She did not compete on floor at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational or Daytona Beach Open. At the Purple and Gold meet, she placed third on bars. Sarah finished third on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on bars.
