Tricia Woo was born on March 11, 1987. She is the daughter of Eric and Audrey Woo. Tricia has one brother, Fred, and one sister, Erin. She graduated from Milpitas High School in 2005. She trained at Pegasus Gymnastics until the 2003 season. Tricia then switched to West Valley. She also did diving for her high school.

In 2001, she competed as a level ten. She finished eighth all-around and second on beam at Regionals. Her third year of level ten was in 2003. She finished first all-around at the Golden State Classic. At the Level 10 State Championships, Tricia won the vault and all-around titles! At Regionals, she won vault and floor. She finished third in the all-around. Her final meet of the season was the JO National Championships, She finished fourth on vault. Tricia qualified to the JO National Championships in 2004 after placing third on floor and second on vault at Regionals. At JO Nationals, Tricia placed twelfth all-around. Her senior year was in 2005. She finished fourth all-around at States. Tricia then won beam and a silver in the all-around at Regionals. She finished sixth on beam at JO Nationals!

Tricia began attending University of Nebraska in the fall of 2005. Tricia made an immediate impact. In her freshman year, she captured first-team All-American honors on floor and second-team honors on beam. She was an All-Big 12 Selection on beam. She competed on vault, beam and floor during her first year. As a junior, she earned two beam titles on beam. She won against Oklahoma and at the Masters Classic. She earned first-team All-American honors on beam. She also competed on vault and floor. She competed in event finals on beam.

As a junior, she began competing in the all-around after her team struggled with injuries. She won seven beam titles and three on floor. At the Big 12 Championships, she won floor. She earned a spot on the All-Big 12 team for beam and floor. She won beam and floor at the Regional Championships. She qualified for the NCAA Championships as a beam and floor specialist. Tricia was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week three times. During her senior season, she competed on vault, beam and floor. She won seven beam titles and two on floor. She was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week four times. At Regionals, Tricia finished second on beam. She earned All-Big 12 honors on beam and floor and was also on the first-team All-Academic Big-12 team.
