Karin Wurm was born on March 10, 1986 in Wilmington, Delaware. She trained at AJS Pancott Gymnastics.
She competed level ten in 2000. She was a JO National Team Member. In 2001, Karin placed second all-around at the JO National Championships. At the 2002 State Championships, she finished first all-around. She also won golds on vault and floor. After Regionals, Karin competed at the JO National Championships. She finished second on vault and fifth on bars.
After the season she competed at the US Challenge as a senior national elite. In 2003, she returned to level ten. Karin did not make JO Nationals, she was the alternate. In 2004, Karin made her fourth JO National Championships. She finished second all-around and fourth on floor.
Karin began school at the University of Arizona in the fall of 2004. She was a big contributor in her freshman year. As a sophomore, she qualified to the NCAA National Championships as an individual. She qualified to the NCAA Championships again as a junior. She made event finals on floor. She was named a First-Team All-American on floor and second-team in the all-around. As a senior, she was named Pac-10 Scholar Athlete of the Year. She received Academic All-American honors all four years of her career.
