Taylor Young-Smith was born on December 16, 1994. She trains at Buckeye Gymnastics. Taylor will graduate from high school in 2013.
In 2005, Taylor competed level seven. She continued competing level seven in 2007. She finished second on bars and first on floor at the Buckeye Classic. Taylor moved up to level eight in 2008. She finished first on floor at the Twistars Invitational. She placed fourth all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. At the Buckeye Classic, she won all five gold medals. Taylor won beam, floor and the all-around at the Luau in Leos Invitational. She finished first on vault, bars and the all-around at the State Championships.
Taylor began competing level nine in 2009. She finished first on floor at both the CGA Coaches Spectacular and Metroplex Challenge. At the Palm Beach Invitational, she placed third on floor. Taylor finished third on floor at Regionals. in 2010, Taylor competed on vault and floor at the State Championships. She returned to all-around competition in 2011. She finished second on vault at the Universal Galaxy Invite. At the Circle of Stars meet, she placed third on vault. Taylor finished second on vault at the Athlete Warrior Challenge. She won all five gold medals at the Buckeye Classic. At the Arnold Gymnastics Challenge, she won beam, floor and the all-around. Taylor won vault and beam at the State Championships. She placed third all-around. At Regionals, Taylor won vault and floor. She finished her season by winning vault and floor at Easterns. She finished tenth all-around.
