Haylee Young was born on April 30, 1996. Her younger sister, Molly is also a gymnast. She began gymnastics at the age of three at Mainley Gymnastics in Maine. She moved to Atlanta in 2000. She then began training at Georgia All-Stars. She spent two years with Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta from 2007 to 2008. In August of 2010, Haylee moved to Iowa and began training with Chow's Gymnastics.
In 2004, Haylee competed level five. She won beam at the State Championships. She competed prep-opt in 2005, winning bars and beam and the State Championships. Haylee competed level eight in 2007. She finished third on beam at Regionals. She made the National TOPs "B" Team in the fall. Haylee competed level nine in 2008. She finished second on vault and floor at the National Gymnastics Challenge. She placed third on bars and 12th all-around at Regionals. She competed at Easterns. Haylee also competed as a hopes elite at the US Challenge.
She moved up to level ten in 2009. Haylee placed second on beam at the National Gymnastics Challenge. She won beam at the Spring Break-Out. She finished second on beam and fourth all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. In 2010, Haylee won beam at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She won bars and floor at the Mardi Gras Invitational. Haylee placed second on bars and third all-around at the State Championships. She finished ninth all-around at Regionals. She competed at the JO National Invitational Tournament.
