Elizabeth Yu was born on December 24, 1996. She started competing for Payke Gymnastics in 2004. She moved to Club Champion in 2005. Elizabeth then moved to West Coast Elite Gymnastics, which her parents own, in 2006. She will graduate from high school in 2015.

In 2004, Elizabeth competed level four. She finished second all-around at the Spiral Gymnastics Invitational. She moved up to level five in 2005. She swept the gold medals at the 1st Prelim. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the 2nd Prelim. At East Sectionals, Elizabeth finished first on beam and second all-around. She ended her season at States, winning beam and placing third all-around. In January, she finished third all-around at the Flips Invitational as a level six.

Elizabeth won vault, beam, floor and the all-around as a level six at the 2007 Lady Luck Invitational. She then moved up to level seven, winning a silver medal on beam. In the fall, she made the National TOPs "B" Team. In early 2008, Elizabeth made the National Jumpstart Tumbling Team. She also began competing level eight. She finished third on beam at the California Classic. Elizabeth won a bronze on bars at the Golden State Friendship Challenge. She placed fifth all-around at States where she also won a silver medal on beam. Elizabeth ended her season by winning beam and the all-around at Regionals!

In 2009, Elizabeth began competing level nine. She finished third on beam at the Lady Luck Invitational. She also made her second Jumpstart team. She competed level seven tumbling in trampoline and tumbling. She won States, Regionals and Nationals. She continued competing level nine in 2010. She won beam and floor and placed third all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished second all-around and first on floor at the Metroplex Challenge. Elizabeth won beam and floor at the California Classic, again finishing second all-around. She won beam and placed second all-around at the Malibu Coast Challenge. At States, she finished third all-around. She won beam. At Regionals, she finished first all-around. She ended her season by winning beam and the all-around at Level 9 Westerns. She finished second on vault and fourth on floor.

Elizabeth began competing level ten in 2011. She finished second all-around at the San Diego Classic. She placed second on beam at the Byers Invitational. She finished in the top fifteen at the State and Regional Championships. In 2012, Elizabeth won beam and the all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She placed fourth all-around at the Heart of a Champion Invitational. She finished second all-around at the Malibu Coast Challenge. Elizabeth placed fourth all-around at the State Championships. She finished second on beam and sixth all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 19th all-around. Elizabeth started her 2013 season by winning bars, beam and the all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She then placed second all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. She won floor at the Brestyans Las Vegas meet. At the State Championships, she placed eighth all-around. She finished third all-around at Regionals. Elizabeth placed second on beam and 23rd all-around at JO Nationals.
