Taylor Nicole Voss Zondervan was born on December 1, 1988. She is the daughter of Daniel and Joni Zondervan. She trained at Geddert's Twistars USA for the majority of her club career. She spent 2004 at Flytz USA to try elite. She graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 2007.

In 2001, Taylor qualified for the JO National Championships. In 2004, she qualified to senior pre-elite. She returned to level ten in 2005. She finished third all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed tenth all-around. In 2006, Taylor won bars and floor at Regionals. She finished fifth all-around at JO Nationals. In 2007, Taylor won the California Classic. She placed second all-around at States. She was supposed to compete for the University of Oklahoma. However, she returned to Michigan and began to attend University of Michigan.

At her first year at Michigan, she competed on vault during the first half of the season. She competed on floor once, scoring a 9.825.
